Leadership Succession

Bedfordshire Growers contacted Fairstead Development to set up a programme to develop their future leadership talent.  The business was growing and had several key leaders who had the potential to be promoted and take on wider more complex leadership roles.

Fairstead Development worked with the senior team and the Chairman of the Board to develop a leadership programme consisting of training and coaching.  Members of the Board were involved in the programme and its implementation in the business as well as taking part in the training.

We identified key leadership themes linked to the business growth needs which became the focus of areas of development for the team and individuals:

  • Leading for success
  • Organising, influencing and agreeing
  • Leadership skills and styles
  • Performance and leadership
  • Head and heart leadership

The modules and coaching were spaced out over a period of a year.  The team completed project work in-between the modules at work to reinforce their learning experience.  These projects became a major focus of presentations and discussions of real life learning and leadership experiences.

Taking part in a review of the programme Stephen Hedderly MD of Beds Growers said:

‘’At BedGrow we are committed to offering our management team on-going effective training and development solutions.  Fairstead were the perfect partner to deliver this for us.  There are many areas that impressed the Board at BG, specifically there attention to detail, understanding our business and helping us scope of the training.

As with many companies we have a management team and Board at different levels of confidence and skill sets.  Fairstead showed a real compassionate approach in the training design and delivery to ensure all parties were bought into the process.

But possibly the greatest attribute at Fairstead is Diane and Malcolm, their enthusiasm and ability to get the most out of the training sessions delivering to our scope.  They are clearly skilled and experienced with significant business acumen and their personal delivery and human approach definitely appealed to the audience.’’
